The Ministry of Business Development (MoBD) has organized its end of year retreat from 3rd -5th January 2020 for their staff and implementing agency, National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) at the Volta Serene Hotel-Ho.
The programme was aimed at sharing information, outlining the achievement, challenges and the 2020 outlook of the Ministry from each departments in order to enhance the effectiveness of the Ministry.
All departmental heads were given 30 minutes to present in a PowerPoint formats their achievements, challenges and plans for the year which was followed by questions from the staff.
In his welcome remarks, the Chief Director of the Ministry Alhaji Hafiz Adam acknowledged the staffs’ contributions over the year in their respective areas of work towards achieving the Ministry’s mandate and the nation as a whole.
According to him, due to the staffs’ collaborative efforts, commitments and hard work, the Ministry have achieved a lot in the year 2019.
Alhaji Hafiz outlined the achievements of the Ministry for 2019 and expressed his gratitude to the Hon. Minister Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal for his support, pleasant tolerance and strategic leadership.
“I commend the office of the President, his Cabinet Secretariat members that have collaborated with us during the year. The staff for their support during the year under review. I want to thank each and every one of you for being part of this family. I appreciate your great effort, commitment and dedication which have been outstanding”, Alhaji Hafiz added.
The Hon. Minister Dr. Awal in his opening remarks thanked everyone for gracing the occasion and added that, 2019 has been a very remarkable year for the Ministry and Government and this he said was as a result of hard work and commitment exhibited by staff. He added that, without the supports of the staff and commitments, he would not have been able to put all his ideas into action.
Dr. Awal confirmed that, Government has improved upon the macroeconomic indicators, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was as low as 3.7% but as it stands now, it is over 7% which he described as the best in the world.
“Government is committed to the five cardinal policies, modernizing agriculture through planting for food and jobs, industrialization through 1D1F, Entrepreneurship, Infrastructure development and Human Resource through free SHS”, Dr. Awal disclosed.
He entreated all staff to share ideas among themselves and must as well abide and by guided by these 3 steps, collaboration, consensus and condor.
After the Minister’s remarks, the heads of departments starting in a chronological order with their presentations the Chief Director Alhaji Hafiz Adam followed by Deputy Director Miss. Joyce Akosua Senyo, the Procurement Officer Mr. Daniel James Darku, the gender Representative Mrs. Irene Ayebea –Safori, Program Manager Mr. Yussif Yakubu Head of Accounts Dr. Osman Haruna Tweneboah and Programms Manager Mr. Kojo Frimpong.
The NEIP team also took their turn of presentations where the CEO Mr. John Kumah started followed by his Deputy Miss. Abigail Laryea and climaxed by the Communication Specialist Mr. Kofi Twum Boafo of MoBD.
The program was moderated by the Special Advisor to the Minister Nana Osafo Adjei Kantanka.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal applauded everyone for the hard work and dedications for achieving massively in 2019.
“Going into 2020, we must all do better than we have done before to help his Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo retain power come December 7th”, he added.
He encouraged head of departments to give savor leadership and subordinates should provide constructive and loyal fellowship.
